Brownie halwa of atta roasted in ghee, cooked with cocoa, water and jaggery and topped with toasted walnuts. A no-oven dessert for 4, 25 minutes, with video.

    Method

    1. 1

      To a pan, add ghee, followed by the walnuts. Toast the walnut for 1 - 2 minutes or until lightly golden. Remove the walnuts from the pan.

      In the remaining ghee, add the atta and stir continuously for 6 - 7 minutes on a medium low heat. The atta should start to darken and the raw smell should go.

      Once the atta has darkened, add the cocoa powder and stir for another minute. Add the water and keep mixing for 2 minutes, the mixture should significantly thicken.

      Add the jaggery powder in 3 batches, making sure the add the next batch once the previous batch is fully incorporated. The halwa should slightly loosen now, keep mixing and cooking for an additional 5 minutes. Add back the walnuts and the dark chocolate and mix once. Remove from the heat and serve hot!
