    In a pan, heat some oil on a medium flame. Add in your whole spices. Once aromatic, add the onions and the green chillies. Cook until the onions have softened and have turned lightly brown.

    Add in the spice powders along with salt and mix to incorporate. Cook off the spices for 5 minutes, adding a little water as needed.

    Once the oil separates from the onion, spread the onion masala into an even layer and place the fish on top. Sprinkle salt on top of the fish. Close with a lid and allow it to cook for 5 minutes or until the fish goes opaque. Flip the fish along with the onions so that the onions end up on top of the fish once flipped.
