    Marinate the fish with salt, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, black pepper powder and curry leaves. Rest it for 10-15 minutes.

    In a pan, heat 2 cups of leftover gingelly oil and add mustard seeds and fenugreek seeds. Let it splutter. Add curry leaves, chopped green chilli, ginger and whole garlic. Let it cook for 5 minutes.

    Add the masalas and roast it in the oil. Next, add vinegar and asafoetida powder. Let it boil.
