Method

    Wash and soak the white peas for 5 to 6 hours. Add the soaked peas to a cooker, pour in water, turmeric powder, and salt, and pressure-cook for 2 whistles on medium flame.

    On the other side, add tomato, onion, green chilli, and ginger–garlic to the mixer jar and blend into a thick paste.

    In a kadai, heat oil and add the onion-tomato paste along with all the spice powders. Sauté until the raw smell goes away.

    Strain the peas and reserve the cooked water. Separate some of the cooked peas, mash them, and keep aside.

    Now add the cooked peas, reserved water, and the mashed peas. Add additional water if needed and let it simmer for 5 minutes.
