    String the Pirandai and cut it into small pieces. In a kadhai, pour oil, add the shallots, and green chillies, and saute on a moderate flame for 2 minutes or until the shallots turn translucent. Add the tamarind, cumin seeds and coriander seeds, saute on a moderate flame until the raw flavour disappears (around 3-4 minutes), and set aside.

    In the same kadhai, add the cut Pirandai and saute on a medium heat until it turns golden brown, around 6 minutes. Then add the grated coconut and saute for 30 seconds. Transfer all the ingredients into a blender along with salt and blend into a paste. Add water when required.
