Method
Get ready: Peel and finely chop the onions. Rinse and slit the green chillies, rinse the curry leaves, and rinse and chop the coriander leaves. Break the dry red chillies. Crumble the cooked puttu with your fingers and remove any large lumps.
Heat oil in a kadai on medium flame for 1 minute until hot. Add mustard seeds, urad dal, dry red chilli, curry leaves and green chilli. Fry for 2 minutes until the mustard splutters and the dal turns light golden.
Add the onion, salt and turmeric powder. Fry on medium flame for 4 to 5 minutes until the onion turns soft and light golden.
Add the crumbled puttu and sprinkle the water over it. Mix gently, cover and cook on low flame for 5 minutes until the puttu is hot and soft.
Open the kadai and mix once more without pressing the puttu. Cook uncovered for 2 minutes until no excess moisture remains. Add coriander leaves and switch off the flame.
