Make deep incisions in the onion, leaving the eye intact, into a minimum of 12 parts and separate the petals.

In a bowl, combine the dry ingredients.

In another bowl, combine the wet ingredients.

Dredge the onion in the dry ingredient mix. Make sure to coat in between layers. Dip the onion in the bowl of wet ingredients and make sure it is thoroughly coated, drain the excess. Repeat the process, coat thoroughly with the dry ingredients for a thick and crispy crust.

Deep fry, submerged in oil until golden brown and crispy, about 4 mins.
