    Heat 2 tbsp oil in a pan, add the dried red chillies, tamarind and fry it lightly.

    Add the shredded beetroot and salt to the pan. Saute the beetroot on a high flame for 10 mins till it's cooked.

    Coarse grind the cooked beetroot with ¼ cup of water using a mixer grinder. Transfer this to the serving dish.

    Heat a pan and add 2 tbsp oil. When the oil is heated up, add urad dal and fry till it turns golden brown.

    Add the thalipu vadam and curry leaves. Once the leaves are lightly fried, add asafoetida. Add this tempering to the Chutney. Mix it well with the ground chutney. Serve it with hot idlis, dosas and as a dip with any other finger food.
