    Soak the tamarind in a cup of water.

    In gingelly oil, fry the garlic until golden brown and set them aside to cool.

    Blend to a paste, retain a few whole cloves.

    In the same pan, splutter mustard seeds.

    Add the curry leaves, fenugreek powder, asafoetida and the garlic paste.

    On a low flame cook this mixture until the raw flavour goes.

    Add 1 tbsp of chilli powder and the tamarind pulp. Add the whole cloves, too.

    Cook until thick and the oil begins floating on the surface, season with salt and jaggery.
