Soak 1 cup of dried channa in 3 cups of water, overnight or a minimum of 6 hours

For the masala paste, blend all the ingredients into a smooth paste

In a pressure cooker, heat ghee and add the whole spices. Fry for a minute. Add the masala paste and cook while stirring constantly, until it is thick and oil releases from the masala - about 7 or 8 mins. Add the soaked channa and pour about 2 ½ cups of water, stir, and bring to a boil.

Cover and pressure cook 1 whistle on a high flame and 6 whistles on a low flame. Allow the pressure to release naturally. Open the cooker and mash some of the channa and adjust the consistency with more water, if needed. Bring to a boil again and finish with chopped coriander leaves.
