Prepare the masala by adding cumin, black peppercorns, garlic, coriander seeds and dry red chilli in a blender and blend it to a coarse texture

Heat a pan, add a little oil. Add the dry red chillies and curry leaves and let it crackle. Add the shallots and saute till it turns translucent. Add the ground rasam paste and mix it for a few seconds

Add the mutton bone and fat and start cooking it on a medium flame till the fat starts rendering (leaves out oil).

Add the tomato and masala powders and mix it well for a minute

Add water and mix. Bring it to a boil.

Cover and simmer for 15 minutes.Open the pot, season the mixture. Add roughly chopped coriander leaves and stem. Mix and take it off the flame. Serve it hot with rice
