Cookd masalas for raw banana
Method
Get ready by washing and peeling the raw bananas. Cut them into small batons. Peel and thinly slice the shallots, then peel and crush the garlic. Break the dry red chillies and rinse the curry leaves. Pat the curry leaves dry so they do not splutter in hot oil.
Add the banana, water, salt and turmeric powder to a kadai. Cover and cook on medium flame for 8 to 10 minutes, stirring once or twice, until the banana is just tender and the water has dried. Transfer the cooked banana to a bowl.
Heat the oil in the same kadai on medium flame for 1 minute until hot. Add mustard seeds, cumin, urad dal, dry red chilli and curry leaves. Fry for 1 to 2 minutes, until the mustard seeds splutter and the dal turns light golden.
Add the shallots and garlic. Fry on medium flame for 4 to 5 minutes, until the shallots turn light golden and the raw smell of garlic goes.
Add the cooked banana and red chilli powder. Mix gently so the pieces do not break, then cook on low flame for 5 to 6 minutes, until the spice coats the banana and the side looks dry.
Drizzle in the coconut oil and toss once. Cook on low flame for 1 minute, until the oil coats the banana, then switch off.
