Boil the tomato, mash it partially, and set it aside.

In a kadai, add oil, mustard seeds, and urad dal, and let it splutter. Now add the onion and sauté for 2 minutes. Next, add the mashed tomato, red chilli powder, and salt, and simmer for 5 minutes
