    Soak a lemon-sized portion of tamarind in 1 cup of water. Strain the tamarind water in a cooking vessel. Add the chopped tomatoes and smash them well.

    Add salt, turmeric powder, 1 sprig of curry leaves and some coriander leaves. Pour 2 cups of water.

    Place this on the stove and bring to a boil, then simmer for 5 mins. Switch off the stove and add ½ cup of thick coconut milk.
