Cookd masalas for green peas
Method
Get ready. Rinse the frozen peas, tomato, green chilli, curry leaves and coriander leaves with the rinsing water. Peel and finely chop the onion, chop the tomato and coriander leaves, grate the coconut, and slit the green chilli. Pat the curry leaves dry so they do not splutter in hot oil.
Grind the grated coconut, cumin and green chilli with water in a mixie until smooth. Keep this coconut paste aside.
Heat oil in a kadai on medium flame for 1 minute until hot. Add mustard seeds and curry leaves, then fry for 1 minute until the seeds crackle and the leaves turn crisp.
Add onion and fry on medium flame for 4 minutes until soft and light golden. Add ginger garlic paste, turmeric, tomato, red chilli powder and coriander powder. Cook for 4 minutes until the tomato turns soft and the raw smell goes.
Add the peas, water and salt. Mix well and cook on medium flame for 8 to 10 minutes until the peas are soft and cooked through.
Add the coconut paste and simmer on low flame for 4 to 5 minutes until the gravy thickens. Stir in coconut milk and cook for 1 minute until heated through, without letting it boil hard. Switch off the flame and add the coriander leaves.
