Method

Wash the urad dal and chana dal, and soak for 2 hours. Strain the water out and grind it into a coarse mixture without adding any water. Do not blend it completely.

To this mixture, add in the cumin seeds, green chillies, ginger, salt, hing, curry leaves and spinach. Mix well until thoroughly mixed.

Using a greased piece of banana leaf/butter paper/plastic sheet, flatten some of the mixture. Make a hole in the centre using your finger.

Deep fry it on medium-low flame for 10 minutes or until golden brown on both sides. Serve it hot witha chutney on the side.
