Wash and Soak the Toor Dal for at least 30 minutes

Pour 1 Cup water and pressure cook the dal for 3-4 whistles on a moderate flame. The cooked dal should not be watery, make sure the mixture is thick and dry.

In a kadhai pour sesame oil and saute the shallots on a moderate flame until it’s golden brown (around 3 minutes), remove and set it aside.

In the same kadhai add all the whole spices,red chillies, garlic and cook on a moderate flame until super fragrant (around 3 minutes).

Add back the shallots and the cooked dal, add in curry leaves and coriander leaves. Mix thoroughly.

Add turmeric and salt and mix thoroughly. Let the mixture cool down completely, and blend into a coarse paste (add small splashes of water if required).

Add the roasted gram flour and mix, shape into smooth balls (make sure no cracks are present)

Deep fry on a medium high flame until golden brown.
