Wash and soak the toor dal in water for 20 mins. Pressure cook the toor dal with 2 cups of water, turmeric and ½ tsp of salt for 2 whistles. Let the steam escape naturally.

In a kadai, heat ghee and add the mustard seeds. Let them splutter. Add the curry leaves and slit green chilli. Add the goda masala, red chilli powder, asafoetida. Mix well. Add the boiled toor dal and stir well. Boil for 3 mins.
