To a pressure cooker add water, kollu, Turmeric powder, tomato, dry red chilli, green chilli,garlic, shallots, tamarind and oil. Cover and pressure cook for 5 whistles. Separate the water and keep it aside for making the rasam.

Heat a kadai, add all the ingredients required for the paste, saute for 2 minutes. Transfer it to a blender and blend it to a coarse paste Heat oil in a kadai, add oil, mustard seeds, dry red chillies, curry leaves and let it crackle. Add the separated water and the blended paste. Bring it to a boil for 5 minutes and take it off the flame. Serve it hot with rice
