    In a mixing bowl ad all the ingredients for the idli, wash and let it soak for at least an hour. Strain the ingredients, and blend it into a coarse batter.

    Add salt, turmeric powder and baking soda and mix thoroughly. Pour water and loosen the batter slightly, add the prepared batter into greased idli moulds and steam them for 10-15 minutes. Once cooked, let it cool down and cut it into cubes and set aside.

    In a kadhai, pour oil and add the urad dal and mustard seeds, once they splutter add the onions and green chillies and saute on a medium flame for 3 minutes or until the onion turns translucent. Add the curry leaves and asafoetida, and cook for 30 seconds. Pour in water and bring it to a boil.

    Add in the cubed idlies into the pan and cook until the idli absorbs all the water and becomes soft (around 3- 5 minutes) Garnish it with grated coconut and serve hot!
