Toast the rice and moong dal gently and add them to a pressure cooker. Add all the other ingredients for the rice and pressure cook for 4 whistles or 10 minutes on a low-medium flame.

In a pan pour water and add the jaggery, melt and make it into a syrup.

In a kadhai add the milk, cooked rice and the jaggery syrup. Cook the mixture until mushy and soft, add all the other ingredients mix thoroughly. Pour all the ghee in batches making sure you add the nest batch only when the first batch is absorbed.

In a pan pour ghee and toast the pista, cashew and raisins until golden brown and add the tempering to the akkaravadisal. Mix gently and serve.
