    Add oil to a kadai. Once hot, add the onions, green chillis, salt and curry leaves, Saute for 3 - 4 minutes, or until softened and starting to turn light brown,

    Add the tomatoes along with red chilli powder and turmeric powder. Saute for 2 - 3 minutes or until the raw smell goes.

    Add the soaked masoor dal along with the soaking water and mix to combine well. Bring to a boil and simmer for 20 - 25 minutes, until the dal is soft and mushy.

    To make the tempering, heat some oil along with ghee, Once hot, add garlic and fry for 1 - 2 minutes or until starting to turn golden. Add urad dal, cumin seeds and mustard seeds. Once the mustard seeds pop, add curry leaves along with the dry red chillis and cook for 30 seconds,

    Add the tempering to the dal and mix well. Bring the dal to a simmer and crack 4 eggs into the dal. Cook the eggs on the lowest heat for 10 minutes, or until set. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with rice.
