Wash and soak the moong dal for 20 mins.

Add the dal to a pressure cooker with salt, turmeric powder and water. Pressure cook for 4 whistles. Allow the pressure to release naturally. Mix well and mash slightly.

Heat oil in a pan and splutter the mustard seeds. Add the asafoetida, curry leaves and dry red chillies.

Add the boiled dal and bring to a boil. Add 1 slit green chilli. Add 1 tsp of ghee to finish. Adjust the seasoning and consistency, if needed.
